Circus Smart Symposium is coming Sunday! Our speakers have their presentations ready and they are excited to share the knowledge they spend their careers building. Science is meant to be shared.
Did you reserve your spot yet?!
This full day of circus science connects circus performance and specialized sport science in a virtual event designed to increase access to high-level research and translate it into the practical tools needed by clinicians, coaches, and artists.
So, what are the Symposium speakers most excited to share with us this Sunday?!?
I couldn’t wait to find out… So, I asked them! Check out some of their thoughts and comments.
If you follow anything about hypermobility you probably know Dr. Linda Blustein. In addition to her clinical practice she hosts the popular podcast Bendy Bodies. She spends her days thinking, speaking, and writing about all things hypermobility and we are very lucky to have her on board speaking about pelvic and sexual health concerns with Dr. Brooke Winder.
Together they will be sharing about the full spectrum of hypermobility diagnosis and related disorders and their interplay with pelvic floor symptoms. As Dr. Blustein puts it, “If you’ve seen one EDS patient, you’ve seen one EDS patient. It’s a tricky spectrum and no two patients are alike!” Their talk is designed to help you learn more about hypermobility to be better at spotting and managing symptoms across the spectrum within the circus community.
Later in the morning we’ll learn more about fueling and powering the circus artist mentally and physically. Sports Nutritionist and Exercise Physiologist Heidi Skolnik and Clinical Psychologist Dr.Laura Adams will be guiding us through the hot topics from both a physical and psychological perspective and ready to answer any questions we have. As colleagues at The School of American Ballet they know their individual expertise can create a bigger impact when working as a team in support of elite performance. We’ll be having a conversation on the themes of training, longevity, and culture and focusing on getting your questions answered!
Circus science gives us the opportunity to learn lessons from medical, performing arts, and sport realms. As circus nerds we know intuitively how these worlds come with unique demands but share many similar characteristics. The implications of these lessons will be the focus for Hayley Ward, PT as she utilizes the biomechanics of tennis and circus to connect the dots! As former “Confidence By Design” Project Manager at Cirque Du Soleil and current Manager of Performance Health Education with the Women’s Tennis Association she has had the unique opportunity to see it all first hand and practice making an impact!
These are just a few of the areas Circus Science Symposium’s speakers are most excited to share – there’s so much more! You can get a head start on Sunday and start learning from each of them now on our Youtube channel.
I am so excited to bring this incredible group of experts together and can’t wait to join all of you for these conversations. My goal has always been to make this high-level performance science accessible to our entire community, which is why we’ve worked hard to ensure the symposium is possible to attend for everyone, no matter where you are in the world.
Please feel free to join us at whatever ticket level works best for your current situation. Whether you are joining for one session or the full experience, I look forward to seeing you there and growing our collective understanding of circus science together!
