Have you heard about the speaker roster at our inaugural Circus Science Symposium?
We are featuring leaders in sports, performing arts, and science. These are authors, clinical researchers, educators, and industry veterans who specialize in high level science and medicine. In the past few weeks I sat down to interview each of them and wow did I have a blast!
These are some super interesting and inspiring folks who have quite a bit to say!!
I got to learn about their personal stories, professional interests, and nerd out with each of them a little bit. So, what do these authors, researchers, educators, and industry veterans all have in common?…
..endless curiosity and enthusiasm for their work spreading science backed information to the people who can get the most out of it.
Boy do I relate! And if you’re reading this, you probably do to!
But, what got ‘em to dive deep into their nerdy niches?!?
What got them into tendon research and performance nutrition and movement puzzles and biomechanics and pelvic floor and stretch science and performance psychology, circus arts, and and and and…?!?
That’s what got me curious. Why do they care? And from that, why should we?
Like me (flying trapeze artist turned circus P.T.), all of these industry veterans got into their fields because of their personal experiences and histories.
Our flexibility expert Dan Van Zandt was a high-kick-obsessed martial artist who focused his pursuits on research backed stretching methods. Dr. Linda Blustein began to specialize in hypermobility syndromes after, well into her career, she herself received a Hypermobile EDS diagnosis. And Dr. Jennifer Zellers was inspired in her first career as a ballet dancer to learn about her extremely hard working feet and ankles, ultimately turning tendon research into her new bread and butter.
I’m also curious about what drives these folks to stay so active and engaged in their work…
Professional pole artist and thought leader Marlo Fisken has become interested in how her students’ brains map their bodies And how changing their internal experience and conversation can change their performance. Our mental health expert Dr. Laura Adams is inspired by the journey of un-learning, and trading the firehose of information for gentle humanity. And Dan Van Zandt treats flexibility training like the solving of a living puzzle…
What’s keeping ME most curious and engaged right now is the curiosity all around me.
My patients ask the best thought provoking questions. Each year my circus science colleagues create research from what we learn in the clinic and in the studio. And every time I turn around more educators, researchers, and coaches with exciting knowledge pop up.
It’s a thrill to see this happening and it’s the reason why Circus Science Symposium is important. I can’t wait for all these great nerdy minds to come together! And I can’t wait to learn with you and from our lineup of fantastic speakers.
What is keeping you inspired in your professional or personal life? What keeps you working towards your goals? Respond and let me know! I’d love to hear about it… and maybe I will get a chance to interview you next…
See you in there
